The method is very simple. You start with a base of count of zero. In the following cards, you add 1 to your count every time a favorable card is dealt out. The zero is called the ‘house edge’. So, you need to keep track of all the cards coming out and subtract it from zero as each new card is dealt.
For example, with the following card sequence, you add up all thecards coming outand subtract it from zero. The sequence is 4-5-6-7-8. So, 4 + 5 + 6 = 10. Next, you must add a card equal toorminus it to the count. For example, with the card sequence shown below, you add up 4 to 9. 9:4-5-6-7-8. This gives you the count. 4:9. You need to be able to assign a point to each card as they are dealt out.There are a number of different card counting strategies. I’m sure you’ve seen some of them before. Some are very effective and some not so.
Although I have only practiced Badugi so far, the strategy promises promise. Although it’s easy, the strategy actually requires a few things to be working. It’s not easy to bet aggressively and stay hidden, unless you bet in a very aggressive manner. This is especially true when you are counting cards.
To start learning Badugi, see if you can add a new concept to your Badugi playing vocabulary. If you can, make a small addition to your knowledge and practice it before moving on to the next hand.
